Subchapters
These are areas of Colorado that members have taken it upon themselves to organize. If you live, work, or attend school in their area, please visit their site, and support them!
For people new to the site...
Communication is the key! Therefore, to be sure we can talk with you and that you can address all other members, create an account to use in accessing the forums. Also, look above and sign up your email for the the Chapter newsletter.
Once you have done that, introduce yourself in the New User Section of the Forum. Whether you just discovered the Movement, or have already put in some work, tell us about you! It is important for others to see fresh new members, as well as the already motivated representatives. Show Colorado that we are not alone!
Thank you and welcome!
Local News
August 12, 2010 - Fort Collins, CO began its Chapter last night! We had a first meeting of 7 people. All attendees were very motivated, and gave hope for many good things to come out of the new group. A lot of ideas were exchanged, and commitments made to attend upcoming meetings. All in all, it was a great night. Special thank you's to Becca S. for taking up the reins, and to Chris W. for travelling with me to both Fort Collins and Colorado Springs (and Boulder, months ago).
August 9, 2010 - The Colorado Springs Chapter is off to a running start! We had our first meeting in the Springs last night, Sunday August 8. There were 12 people in attendance; a mother and daughter, a father and son, several 20-something gentlemen, and a passionate member I can only describe as Darcy :). I spoke about what activism the Movement has done here in Colorado, and what would be beneficial for getting some accomplishments under the new Chapter's belt. Thank you again to Greyson, for taking up the reins, and agreeing to organize meetings locally.
Our next First Meeting will be in Fort Collins on Aug 11. The next meeting in the Denver area will be August 14, the Communications Team meeting.
July 19, 2010 - The meeting summary for our July 2010 Meet The Chapter meeting has been posted! You can find it on Facebook , and in the forums !
June 22, 2010 - Short update. Meet the Chapter meeting occurred last Saturday. The summary has been posted in the forums , as well as Facebook .
I have also created a document you may be interested in, regarding my personal thought process reconciling our upcoming 501(c)(3), and our efforts as a movement to bring about a resource based economy. You can read the document here .
We have 206 members registered for our forum. There are 347 newsletter subscribers.
June 14, 2010 - Our June Communications Team meeting occurred this past Saturday. Thank you to all who came and contributed. Your continued support and communication with the group is what will make this work. I gave a rough draft of a presentation I had been working on connecting the Movement, the Chapter, the 501c3, and the idea that each of them share. It talks about how we work within each sphere and why they are all important. I included points on how concepts like time, the monetary system and the resource based economy affect our actions in each. Great stuff!
Lucy gave another presentation on our Chapter logic model. You can find the document here . We need everyone to review the goals and other content that we came up with. Add your opinion, let us know what you are thinking. If you have any questions, or don't know where or how to contribute, please ask! We are working to create a sustainable organization that will help spread awareness. Your input is necessary!
Our next meeting is this coming Saturday, June 19, at 7 PM. It is the Meet the Chapter meeting! So, if you have any family members or friends you would like to introduce the Movement to, this is the time to do it. We will be meeting at 11th and Cherokee Street at Metropolis Coffee.
May 29, 2010 - Thank you to Lucy, our Events Coordinator, for leading last night's discussion on using logic models to determine plans of action for the Chapter. There were about 14 people in attendance. Also, a big Welcome to the four new attendees who joined us. Starting promptly at 7-ish, we began thinking of how we saw the Movement, globally, in the long term. Then we brought it closer to home, talking about what the Chapter would need to support that long term vision of the Movement. From the long term Chapter objectives, we thought of mid- and short-term objectives to support those.
Through our previous meetings and conversations, we'd covered a lot of the objectives before. There were new ideas, too. We will need to do this more often. Creating a process to detail actions that help achieve our goals is an obvious necessity.
You can find the electronic fruits of our meeting here .
Our next meeting is the Communications Team meeting on Saturday, June 12 at 7 PM, Metropolis Coffee, 11th and Cherokee.
May 17, 2010 - The May 2010 "Meet the Chapter" meeting occurred last Saturday, May 15. I have typed up a summary of the meeting; you can find it in the forums here and on Facebook . Some highlights, we are finishing up a collaborative effort on the Chapter "What We Advocate" pamphlet; a final copy will be available soon. We are working to create internships to allow college students to get credit for helping us build this organization. They will likely be helping us create activities and programs needed for a planned non-profit organization. Also, we have interest among several members in doing something with aquaponics. We began discussing using aquaponics as a Chapter project to spread awareness with.
The Chapter continues to grow! At last count, there were 339 newsletter subscribers and 191 registered members in the forum.
You may have noticed the box off to the right, entitled Making 500 DVDs. We are collecting funds here to purchase the materials to burn and distribute 500 DVDs containing five Zeitgeist related films. Thank you to Mr. T. Anderson for donating $50 to our effort this month. His contribution will cover 125 DVDs.
Apr 20, 2010 - There has been a lot of activity in the Chapter recently. We are making strong efforts to be out and about in the public, talking to people. We had a particularly great day April 15, spreading awareness at the Sustainability Fair on Auraria Campus. As far as the impact we made, the Sustainability Fair was more successful than Z-DAY. Details of all of that and more are in this month's meeting summary on Facebook and in the forums .
Today, 4/20, was an excellent day for spreading awareness as well. Read about that on Facebook and in the forums .
We have a group on Meetup.com now. Please join the group and RSVP for meetings. We aim to use that group much more in the future, so get in now!
Because our core of supporters is growing, we are able to enlighten many more people about the realities of their world. But we still need you! Tell us when you are available to help . Also, we can use any resources you can bring us.
As an update, we now have 178 people registered in our forums, and over 310 newsletter subscribers. We've given over 400 DVDs away since ZDAY, March 15.
Mar 22, 2010 - Our meet the Chapter meeting was this past Saturday. I have put up a summary on Facebook and in the forums . Check it out!
Mar 16, 2010 - ZDAY 2010 occurred in Denver yesterday.. From a newsletter I sent out re: the event: "...I'm not going to write up a big review of the Colorado Chapter's first public performance (too late?), because it wasn't about us. While this was absolutely top 10 of the most AWESOME things any of us have probably yet done in life, what we did tonight was not (all that) important. Because we will do this again. And again. And, yet again. What will be important is the seed that was planted tonight. The seed, a sure eye opener for some, will give the event importance. Who knows what one of the kids in attendance, will do with the honesty we gave them as plainly as we could tonight. Or any of the people there.. who they will tell, and what seeds they will plant.
This Movement is just starting to grow. First, there were, 14 people in a coffee shop, and then 65 in a conference room. Did I mention there was free fruit, tea and cheese in the back, too? Indeed, as a testament to collaboration in order to accomplish a worthy goal, tonight was a success.
Here's to many more."
Mar 14, 2010 - Yesterday's ZDAY event in Boulder went off with nary a hitch. There were about 20 people in attendance, I was literally so excited, I forgot to count. :) Many thanks to Robin Ash for organizing the event, and our Boulder chapter.. It was good to see the film (Addendum) with other people, in a public venue; for many of us it was the first time in such a situation. To end the night, we had our Communications Team meeting. We divided up into groups, and talked, posing frequently asked questions to each other, and imbibing the most comprehensive answers to them.
Tomorrow is the Denver ZDAY event! I am excited to see how it turns out! More news to come!
Mar 2, 2010 - It has been confirmed! We will be doing a ZDAY event in the city of Boulder.
Our chapter is about seven months old now. To be putting on two events on two major college campuses in such a short amount of time, is incredible. We are, indeed, going to change this system! Thank you to Robin Ash for his efforts in Boulder, and thank you to all in Denver who are working with me to make the Colorado Chapter a success.
Here's the important event details for ya...

Feb 21, 2010 - Snow! Snow! Snow! This weekend thanks to the weather, our turnout slowed, but we've had two great meetings this weekend. First, on Feb 19, we had our first meeting in Boulder. The meeting shows great promise for our nascent Chapter. We will likely have a ZDAY event on CU's campus there. That is excellent.
Second, our Chapter meeting occurred yesterday. 14 people made the effort, and all were people who had attended before. That says a lot for the dedication of our active Chapter members. It was a night full of contributions. A speech, flyers, DVDs, constructive criticism, T-Shirts and even wine! Look for a more detailed summary of the meeting on Facebook and in the forums .
Feb 14, 2010 - The conversation at last night's Communications Team meeting was engrossing. Thanks to Chapter members, and new attendees alike. 22 people joined us, a large contingent of which was thanks to We Are Change Colorado. They are a group of like minds that have been active in the area for several years now. The conversation's most interesting moments came in discussing our differences; all of which helped us see our common ground.
Our next meeting is this coming Saturday, February 20. Our General Chapter meeting previously had been dedicated to discussing the state of projects in the Chapter. As more new people have attended, we've changed that to allow more discussion. We'll be breaking into smaller groups, led by some more active members of the Chapter, to discuss the Zeitgeist Movement and whatever is on your mind. Please join us!
At press time, there are 139 registered forum members. The last newsletter was sent to over 230 subscribers.
Jan 31, 2010 - At our first action yesterday, we attended the monthly NORML rally on the West steps of the Capitol. Over the day, about 9 people came out to represent the Colorado Chapter. Thanks to Miguel, Alan, and all the other NORML organizers who put the rally on. We were welcomed, and able to talk to a lot of the attendees, many of whom already knew about the Movement. The energy was beneficent, and we even made some progress in getting the Fort Collins Subchapter going.
Later in the evening, we met at Metropolis Coffee to discuss the Chapter and other topics on people's minds.
Next, on Tuesday, Feb 2, the Auraria Campus club will have its first meeting at 1 PM. If you are interested in attending, send an email to

Jan 24, 2010 - Wow.. Last night was our best night yet. I think we really reached a milestone as a Chapter. An unexpected 27 people in attendance, a good 18 of which were first timers. I see we are going to have to make some changes in our meeting structure for the next go around, so we can serve the needs of all comers, the dedicated members, and first time attendees.
Look for a summary of the meeting in the forums , and on Facebook . A newsletter was sent out, too.
People will be meeting informally at Metropolis Coffee, our normal location, next Saturday eve, January 30. The next official Chapter meeting, however, will be the Communications Team meeting on February 13, at 7 PM.
There are 127 currently registered members.
Jan 17, 2010 - 16 people in attendance last night at the Communications Team Meeting. I didn't take count of first timers, but it was a large portion. Thanks to all who came. There were some great ideas tossed about, and we talked up to and past our allotted time. It is great to see the interest and our numbers continue to grow. I think what is drawing people is a platform of like minds ready to discuss, and learn and teach, all at the same time. Our conversations are awesome.
Our next meeting is this coming Saturday, January 23 , the General Chapter Meeting, where we talk about projects we've got going on, updates on happenings, and anything else you'd like to discuss. You can review the agenda here .

Oct 24 2009 - We just completed the first meeting of the Colorado chapter of the Zeitgeist Movement. There were 15 of us in attendance. It was great to get together and talk with so many energetic, passionate people. A great time was had by all. Action plans include pressing DVDs and forming plans to do intragroup speaking to clarify our thoughts and explanations regarding the Movement. Details to come in the forums.
At press time we have 44 members registered on the site. That is excellent growth considering the Chapter has only been alive for less than two months.
